SSC JE CS & IT Exam Pattern 2026 (Paper 1 and Paper 2)

Paper 1: Computer Based Test (2 hours)

Part Questions Marks
Part A: General Intelligence & Reasoning5050
Part B: General Awareness5050
Part C: Computer Science & IT100100
Total200200

Negative marking: 0.25 mark per wrong answer. Paper 1 is qualifying (minimum 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, 20% for others) and shortlists candidates for Paper 2.

Paper 2: Computer Based Test (2 hours)

Subject Questions Marks
Part C: Computer Science & IT100300

Negative marking: 1 mark per wrong answer. Same Computer Science & IT syllabus as Paper 1 Part C, but deeper and costlier mistakes. Paper 2 marks decide the final merit list, which is exactly why timed practice matters.

2-Week SSC JE CS & IT Revision Plan (Before Paper 1)

Paper 1 starts on 2 November 2026. Here is how to use the notes and tests in the time left.

  1. Days 1 to 5: High-weight core. Revise Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems, DBMS and Computer Networks from the notes. Take the subject-wise test the same day you revise each subject.
  2. Days 6 to 9: Core theory and maths. Digital Logic, Computer Organization, Theory of Computation, Compiler Design and Engineering Mathematics. These are formula and concept-driven, so drill standard problem types for speed and accuracy.
  3. Days 10 to 13: Full-length mocks. One mock a day in a strict 2-hour slot. Spend as long analysing as attempting: list every wrong answer and re-read that topic in the notes.
  4. Days 14 to 16: Weak-area repair. Re-attempt subject tests where you scored lowest. Revise complexity tables, formulas and key definitions daily.
  5. Day before the exam: Light revision of formulas and short notes only. No new topics. Sleep well.

Tip: With 0.25 negative marking in Paper 1, a wrong answer costs only a quarter of a right one, so an educated guess after eliminating even one option is worth taking. In Paper 2 (1 mark lost per wrong answer, 3 marks per right one) guess only when you can eliminate at least two options. Mocks are where you learn your safe-guess threshold.
