How the selection works — and why this one is different

Unlike most bank specialist notifications, UCO has not committed to a written examination or published an exam pattern.

Selection is through online written examination and/or screening and/or group discussion and/or interview, or any other process the Bank decides. The Bank has explicitly reserved the right to conduct a written examination depending on the number of applications received. If it does hold one, the structure will be published on uco.bank.in.

The practical consequence: your application itself may be the entire first round. A screening committee examines whether candidates meet the eligibility criteria, and only the most suitable candidates are called forward. With 20 posts and a specialised profile, a well-documented application and a strong interview matter more here than mock test scores.

Shortlisting

Provisional and without document verification at first. Candidature remains subject to verification whenever the Bank calls for it. Meeting the eligibility norms does not entitle you to be called.

Merit list

Prepared in descending order of scores from the written examination and/or group discussion and/or interview. If two candidates tie at the cut-off, the older candidate is ranked higher.

Qualifying marks

Decided by the Bank, not published in advance. No representation or correspondence on screening parameters will be entertained.

Documents you must upload while applying

This notification requires documents at the application stage, not at interview. Candidates who do not upload them will not be considered for examination, shortlisting or interview. Scan everything as PDF.

Proof of identity and addressmax 100 KB
Proof of birthmax 100 KB
Educational certificatesmax 1 MB
Experience certificates — must state designation, job profile, period of service with specific dates and emolumentsmax 1 MB
Caste or disability certificate, if applicablemax 1 MB
Photograph — passport style, 200 × 230 px preferred, jpg/jpeg20–50 KB
Signature — black ink on white paper, not in capitals, 140 × 60 px preferred10–50 KB

The experience certificate must explicitly state that you have experience in the specified field. A generic relieving letter will not establish three years in offensive security or AI/ML development.

Six conditions that quietly disqualify people

Read these before you pay the fee. It is non-refundable.

One position only

A candidate applying against one position is not eligible to apply against the other. If multiple applications are submitted, only the last valid one is retained and the fee paid for the others is forfeited.

The degree must be full time

Both posts specify a full-time qualifying degree with 50% marks. Distance and part-time programmes in the qualifying degree do not meet the stated criterion. CGPA must be converted to a percentage in the application.

Result declared by 1 August 2026

The final result of the qualifying examination must have been declared on or before this date, with proper documentation from the board or university to prove it.

Certification before applying, for cyber security

The offensive security certification is mandatory and must be valid. Starting an OSCP attempt now will not help for this cycle, though it positions you for the next one.

Credit record

Candidates who have defaulted on any loan or credit card dues and not regularised them by the date the appointment letter is issued are not eligible. An adverse CIBIL report can cost you the offer even after selection.

No edits after final submit

Name, category, date of birth, address, mobile number and email are final once submitted. Use the Save and Next facility to verify everything before clicking Final Submit.

Salary, probation and service bond

Scale Basic pay scale (₹) Probation Bond
MMGS-II64820 – 939601 year of active service₹2,00,000 / 2 years

Dearness allowance, HRA or lease accommodation, city compensatory allowance, medical benefits and other perquisites apply as per prevailing rules. The bond requires a minimum of two years of service or payment of ₹2 lakh on leaving earlier. Confirmation follows satisfactory performance and conduct during probation.

Preparation

Bank IT Officer Course and Test Series

UCO has not announced an exam pattern, so there is no UCO-specific test series to sell you — and you should be sceptical of anyone offering one. What does transfer is the technical core every bank IT officer paper and interview draws on. This bundle teaches those subjects properly and includes exam-specific test series for the notifications that do publish a pattern.

For the AI/ML post in particular, the AI, Machine Learning & Data Science course and the Python and Data Analysis course map directly onto the skill set UCO named — neural networks, NLP and big data pipelines. For the cyber security post, the networking, operating systems and Linux shell modules are the foundation an interview panel will test around your certification.

Indian Overseas Bank SO 2026 — 110 IT vacancies, closing 15 September

The two windows overlap almost exactly. IOB's notification is far larger on the technology side — 110 posts across IT, Information Security, IS Audit, Database, Network and Cyber Security — and unlike UCO it has a published exam pattern: 100 questions in two hours, split 25 English, 25 General Awareness and 50 Professional Knowledge. If you meet the eligibility for both, applying to both is the obvious move, and IOB is the one you can actually train for with mock tests.

What to actually do in the next three weeks

With no announced pattern, effort is better spent on the application and the interview than on generic mock tests.

  1. FIRST

    Fix your experience certificate

This is the single highest-leverage thing you can do. The certificate must name your designation, job profile, exact dates of service and emoluments, and must explicitly state experience in the specified field. Ask HR for a reworded letter now — it takes companies a week or more, and screening happens on what you upload.

  2. SECOND

Map your work onto their job profile, line by line

UCO published eight job-profile bullets per role. Write one concrete example from your own work against each. That document becomes your interview script, and the gaps it exposes tell you exactly what to study.

  3. THIRD

    Close the banking-context gap

Most applicants are strong technically and weak on why any of it matters in a bank. Learn core banking systems, the RBI cyber security framework, digital payment rails, model governance expectations for AI in financial services, and what a bank's SOC actually monitors. Interview panels reward this heavily.

  4. FOURTH

Refresh the fundamentals you have not touched since college

If a written test does happen, it will be at short notice. Networks, operating systems, DBMS and data structures are the reliable core across every bank IT officer paper. Keep a steady background hour on these rather than cramming later.

  5. FIFTH

    Apply early, and apply widely

Twenty posts is a thin target. IOB SO closes 15 September with 110 IT vacancies, and SBI, IBPS and other PSU notifications run on similar cycles. Treat UCO as one entry in a portfolio rather than the whole plan.

Frequently asked questions

How many vacancies are there in UCO Bank SO 2026?
Twenty in total: 10 for Manager – AI/ML Engineer and 10 for Manager – Cyber Security, both in MMGS-II. The category split across both posts combined is SC 2, ST 0, OBC 4, EWS 2 and UR 12, with no PwBD reservation in this notification.
What is the last date to apply for UCO Bank SO 2026?
18 September 2026. Online registration and fee payment both opened on 29 August 2026 and close on the same date. Applications are accepted only through uco.bank.in under Career and Recruitment Opportunities.
Can I apply for both the AI/ML and Cyber Security posts?
No. Candidates can apply for only one position, and a candidate applying against one position is not eligible to apply against the other. If multiple applications are submitted, only the last valid completed application is retained and the fee paid for the others is forfeited.
Is there a written examination for UCO Bank SO 2026?
Not necessarily. Selection is through online written examination and/or screening and/or group discussion and/or interview, or any other process the Bank decides. UCO has reserved the right to conduct a written examination depending on the number of applications received, and will publish the structure on its website if one is held. No exam pattern or syllabus has been announced.
Is OSCP mandatory for the UCO Bank Cyber Security Manager post?
OSCP is one of eight acceptable certifications, at least one of which is mandatory and must be valid. The others are OSCE³, OSWE, OSEP, GIAC GPEN, GIAC GXPN, CAISP from Practical DevSecOps, Offensive AI: Attack & Defend AI Systems from SANS, and GenAI and LLM Security from SANS. Without one of these you are not eligible for this post.
What experience is required?
Three years of post-qualification experience for both posts, reckoned as on 1 August 2026. For AI/ML Engineer it must be in the development and implementation of AI, Generative AI, NLP and content-analysis projects. For Cyber Security it must be hands-on offensive security work such as red teaming, AI red teaming, penetration testing, LLM security evaluation or advanced vulnerability exploitation. The experience certificate must explicitly state experience in the specified field.
What is the UCO Bank SO salary in MMGS-II?
The basic pay scale is ₹64,820 to ₹93,960, with dearness allowance, HRA or lease accommodation, city compensatory allowance, medical benefits and other perquisites as per prevailing rules. Probation is one year of active service, and there is a mandatory bond of ₹2 lakh with a minimum service period of two years.
What is the application fee?
₹175 inclusive of GST for SC, ST and PwBD candidates, and ₹850 inclusive of GST for all others. Payment is online only, and bank transaction charges are borne by the candidate. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be held in reserve for another selection.
Do I need to upload documents while applying?
Yes, and this is a common reason for rejection. Age proof, qualification certificates and experience certificates must be uploaded at the application stage in PDF, along with photograph and signature in jpg or jpeg. Candidates who fail to upload the required documents will not be considered for examination, shortlisting or interview.
What is the age limit and relaxation?
25 to 35 years as on 1 August 2026 for both posts. Relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC non-creamy layer, 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, 5 years for eligible ex-servicemen and 5 years for persons affected by the 1984 riots. Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC is cumulative with only one of the remaining categories.
Can a loan default affect my selection?
Yes. Candidates who have defaulted on any lending arrangement with banks, NBFCs or financial institutions, including credit card dues, and have not regularised or repaid them by the date the appointment letter is issued, are not eligible. If dues were cleared but CIBIL has not updated, an NOC from the lender is required, failing which the appointment letter can be withdrawn.
How should I prepare when no syllabus has been published?
Prioritise the application and the interview. Get a precisely worded experience certificate, write concrete examples against each job-profile bullet UCO published, and close the banking-context gap around core banking systems, the RBI cyber security framework, payment rails and AI model governance. Keep a background hour on networks, operating systems, DBMS and data structures in case a written test is announced at short notice.
